“I’ve lost my Lithuanian Residence Card”

We get it – life happens and sometimes we need to go through the unnecessarily painful process of, for example, replacing a wallet full of cards.

Of course, if you’re already a Baltic Capital Partners client, the best thing to do is reach out to us first and let us know you’ve lost your residency card. We may be able to help speed the process along for you.

Just in case though, below we also explain how to block your lost temporary residence card and order a replacement yourself.

To protect yourself from fraud, it is extremely important to report your card lost or stolen immediately as it is a valid international identity document.

Please note that the following actions can only be carried out personally by the individual concerned, either through the MIGRIS system or in person.

  1. Log in to your personal MIGRIS account at https://www.migracija.lt/en/home
    1. Submit a notification about the lost document:
    2. Go to the section “My Documents” → select the lost permit → click the button “Report Lost Document”.
  2. Fill in the application for issuing a new temporary residence permit:
    1. Go to “My Applications” → “New Application” → “Applications On Behalf for Natural Persons” → “I want to get a residence permit in Lithuania” → “I want to receive temporary residence permit” → “I want to formalize a new temporary residence permit” →
    2. click “Apply for a formalization of a new permit”.
  3. While completing the application, you must indicate where you will submit the application (in person): either at the Migration Department in Lithuania, or at an external service provider’s branch (if you are abroad when you lose your permit). The usual provider for this is VFS Global in Australasia for example.

If you choose to submit the application for a new permit through an external service provider, you must book an appointment at one of the external service provider’s branches.

Information about appointment reservations is available here: https://migracija.lrv.lt/en/structure-and-contacts/information-for-visitors/services-for-persons-abroad/temporary-residence-permit-and-national-visa-services/

The application for a new temporary residence permit is processed within up to 10 working days.

You will be notified via MIGRIS when your new permit has been issued. If the new permit is sent to an external service provider, the delivery time depends on the courier service.

You are then required to appear in person either at the VFS Global office or at the Migration Department office in Lithuania in order to collect the document. Currently, this collection procedure cannot be carried out by another person. There is no need for the Client to submit biometric data again however at this appointment.
