VU Botanical Garden was established in 1781. In 240 years, the Garden has become an integral part of science, as well as educational and social life of communities of Vilnius University and Lithuanian capital.
The total area of the Garden is 199 ha, it is the largest in Lithuania. The Garden can be interesting for history lovers, because in Kairėnai it is located in an old manor site and the Vingis Department does not lack traces of history as well. Historical circumstances have led for the Botanical Garden to be relocated several times.

Visit AttractionThe tallest building in Lithuania, it is the 8th tallest building in Europe and the 30th tallest in the world, and is included in the list of the world's tallest buildings of this construction and purpose.
The café "Paukščių takas" is 165 m high. The part of the tower where the café is located is rotatable on its axis, which takes ~ 45 minutes to turn around. On a clear day, you can get a good view of Vilnius in this time, sitting at a table and not moving.

Visit AttractionThe castle is famous for its gothic architecture and its special location – it stands on an island on Lake Galve, one of the deepest lakes in Lithuania. The view of the historic structure is straight out of a fairy tale.
You can reach the castle by crossing the long wooden bridge. In the winter the lake freezes over and becomes a natural skating rink. You can also take in a special view of the castle from a yacht. Visit the museum inside the castle to explore the exhibitions of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, various archaeological findings and artefacts, as well as a collection of art.

Visit AttractionThe former office of the KGB Deputy Chief of Internal Prison on the museum’s first floor includes an exhibition of documents, photographs, maps and other items depicting the Sovietisation of the region in 1940-1941.
The Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights was established in 1992. It is the only such museum in the Baltic States, housed in the same building where the repressive Soviet authorities NKVD and NKGB-MGB-KGB worked from the second half of 1940 until August 1991. Visitors can get acquainted with the exhibition, which was set up in the former death penalty enforcement room.
